Natural Cleaning Recipes- Glass Cleaner

Did you know that there are many alternative natural cleaners that work just as well as their chemical laden counterparts?  A quick internet search will yield the benefits of using baking soda, white distilled vinegar (acetic acid), lemons (citric acid), hydrogen peroxide, salt, and also natural vegetable oil soap.  To save time and money, buy the ingredients in bulk and make bigger quantities at one time.

There are many good recipes for natural glass cleaner with varying amounts of water, vinegar, and liquid soap.  Here is one that we use and like, you can vary the amounts of each ingredient if you like.

Combine the following:
Vinegar -  4 cups
Wash Tyme Clean & Green Liquid unscented or scented -  8 tablespoons
Add water until you have 1 gallon total
Shake gently to mix
Put in a spray bottle!

You can use this in your car windshield wiper reservoir in warmer months as well.  When washing windows you can also use old newspaper which will not leave any lint and is another way to re-use old newspaper.

Please share your green cleaning tips with us in the comments section and stay tuned for more recipes!

2012 Locavore Event

Yesterday marked the 3rd Annual Locavore Event in Doylestown, bringing together local producers of food and beverage to showcase some of the best that independent local businesses have to offer.  We had samples of our soaps along with our wash station for folks to use.  We saw many old friends and made a few new ones, enjoyed local beer from Triumph Brewing Co of New Hope, fresh greens from Blue Moon Acres, ice cream from OwowCow Creamery, wines from Wycombe Vinyards, and a lot of other goodies.

Our thanks goes to Patrick Kennedy, owner of Superior Woodcraft who hosted the event and also to Independent We Stand who highlight the importance of supporting local business as a means to keep a greater portion of the money you spend in the local community.  Please check them out and make a committment to supporting local business!

Wash Station

It was cool to highlight our partnership with Triumph Brewing Co and Blue Moon Acres.  Vegetable oil recycled from Triumph is used to make biodiesel that powers Blue Moon and the glycerin becomes Wash Tyme soap!

Mother Earth News Fair 2011

It's been a few months since the Mother Earth News Fair.  We had a great time and our soap went over extremely well in the bathrooms at the resort and resulted in many folks seeking us out.  It was a long weekend with quite a bit of travel and we came home to Bucks County tired and with a lot less soap than we took with us!

If you are within a day or two drive of this Seven Springs PA we encourage you to come out for this years fair. You will learn a great deal about sustainability and homesteading and get to hear some fantastic speakers and attend some good classes.  Read more about last years fair on their blog here
