Collaboration with Bucks County Community College marketing class!

This morning we presented to Mary Keunecke's marketing class at the Upper Bucks campus of BCCC, their semester project is to come up with a marketing plan for Wash Tyme LLC that includes the 4 P's: Product, Placement, Promotion, Pricing.  They were randomly put into 5 different teams for the project, which is 25% of their semester grade. On December 11th each team will get to "pitch" us their plan.  This is timely as we are in the midst of a rebranding process for our liquid soap to be able to more effectively market it to the mainstream.

We spoke about where we started, where we are, and where we want to go and answered some questions from the class.  Then the students  broke into 4 groups and tried our liquid hand soap out in the restrooms, after which it was back to the classroom and time for group discussion and asking us more questions.

One of the most rewarding moments of the day is when Mary remarked to us how the kids didn't jump up and run out when class was over like they usually do.

Stay tuned for more updates, and if you are one of the team members reading this feel free to contact us with any more questions at dorinda@washtyme.com

Our gratitude to Mary for setting this up and to the students for participating and good luck!

Natural Cleaning Recipes- Glass Cleaner

Did you know that there are many alternative natural cleaners that work just as well as their chemical laden counterparts?  A quick internet search will yield the benefits of using baking soda, white distilled vinegar (acetic acid), lemons (citric acid), hydrogen peroxide, salt, and also natural vegetable oil soap.  To save time and money, buy the ingredients in bulk and make bigger quantities at one time.

There are many good recipes for natural glass cleaner with varying amounts of water, vinegar, and liquid soap.  Here is one that we use and like, you can vary the amounts of each ingredient if you like.

Combine the following:
Vinegar -  4 cups
Wash Tyme Clean & Green Liquid unscented or scented -  8 tablespoons
Add water until you have 1 gallon total
Shake gently to mix
Put in a spray bottle!

You can use this in your car windshield wiper reservoir in warmer months as well.  When washing windows you can also use old newspaper which will not leave any lint and is another way to re-use old newspaper.

Please share your green cleaning tips with us in the comments section and stay tuned for more recipes!

2012 Locavore Event

Yesterday marked the 3rd Annual Locavore Event in Doylestown, bringing together local producers of food and beverage to showcase some of the best that independent local businesses have to offer.  We had samples of our soaps along with our wash station for folks to use.  We saw many old friends and made a few new ones, enjoyed local beer from Triumph Brewing Co of New Hope, fresh greens from Blue Moon Acres, ice cream from OwowCow Creamery, wines from Wycombe Vinyards, and a lot of other goodies.

Our thanks goes to Patrick Kennedy, owner of Superior Woodcraft who hosted the event and also to Independent We Stand who highlight the importance of supporting local business as a means to keep a greater portion of the money you spend in the local community.  Please check them out and make a committment to supporting local business!

Wash Station

It was cool to highlight our partnership with Triumph Brewing Co and Blue Moon Acres.  Vegetable oil recycled from Triumph is used to make biodiesel that powers Blue Moon and the glycerin becomes Wash Tyme soap!

Mother Earth News Fair 2011

It's been a few months since the Mother Earth News Fair.  We had a great time and our soap went over extremely well in the bathrooms at the resort and resulted in many folks seeking us out.  It was a long weekend with quite a bit of travel and we came home to Bucks County tired and with a lot less soap than we took with us!

If you are within a day or two drive of this Seven Springs PA we encourage you to come out for this years fair. You will learn a great deal about sustainability and homesteading and get to hear some fantastic speakers and attend some good classes.  Read more about last years fair on their blog here

PA Renewable Energy Fest 2011

We had a great time meeting new friends and old at the PA Renewable Energy Fest in Kempton PA this past weekend!  The weather was a little cooler than normal but the sun was out most of the time and there was a breeze blowing- perfect for the solar and wind energy vendors who were there.
We had our field sink in use and also made our hand soap available at the wash stands adjacent to the restrooms again.  We get a lot of great feedback once people actually try our soap and it surely sells itself.  We were please to find many people coming back who had tried it last year and needed more.  Of course you can always buy it on our website www.washtyme.com and we are also looking for distributors and stores to carry it so please let us know of any opportunities in your area.

We had an email sign up sheet and offered a collection of our soaps as a raffle prize, there were 51 entries and we used a random number generated from Random.org to select the winner.  Actually the last 2 entries were entered into our database from emails sent by using the QR code we had on the sheet- and one of those was the winner!  Liza Gould we will be in touch via email and figure out how to get you your free gift!

This coming weekend September 24-25th we will be at the Mother Earth News Fair in Seven Springs PA.  Andy will be doing a demonstration on Saturday about making biodiesel and how we get the glycerin that our awesome soaps are made from - don't miss it!
